Tomorrow about 50 Dragon-Crews are going to start the fight to HM Queen Silvia Trophy

June, 12th, 2013 - Russian Crew of Anatoly Loginov won the first race of the Grade One event BMW Dragon Grand Prix. Close to him the Ukraine team with Yevgen Braslavets and the reigning world champion Lawrie Smith (GBR) and his crew. Best German team was the crew of Norddeutscher Regatta Verein with Benjamin Morgen on the fifth place. But before the CHILDHOOD race started, the sailors seemed to be a bit nervous - Race Officer Andreas Denecke had to stop the start twice because of several jump starts. "But then they actually went on the course and we had a wonderful race with wind around nine to ten knots," Denecke said. The CHILDHOOD Race is traditionally the first race of this international sailing event. Even just 990,000 euros came in recent years together in favor of the World Childhood Foundation of Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden. Representing the Queen, welcomed Rolf Seelmann-Eggebert the sailors and guests in Kühlungsborn. "The Foundation supports projects with donations for children in need around the world," said Seelmann-Eggebert. "I also must align with the best greetings to the Queen - she was often for holiday here in Kühlungsborn".

Top sailor Markus Wieser also engages in the event of a BMW Dragon Grand Prix - he wants to win, but above all, have fun in Kühlungsborn. "I have a score to settle with the reigning world champion Lawrie Smith from the UK - let's see if we can tease him," Wieser said. BMW is for the first time the title sponsor of the Dragon Grand Prix, but since 2011 they support the Dragon Class already. The level of aesthetics, elegance and dynamism combines the dragon class with the values of BMW.

Good to realize were about 50 volunteers and organizers of the BMW Dragon Grand Prix. Clothing partner Marinepool equipped them with bright, orange t-shirts printed with the CHILDHOOD logo.

About 150 sailors from 14 nations are going to start at the BMW Dragon Grand Prix in Kühlungsborn. The sailing event BMW Dragon Grand Prix is one of the four highest ranking regattas on an international level in the dragon scene. Tomorrow at 11 am the first race of the BMW Dragon Grand Prix is going to start.
