Early Dragon history

I have tried to put everything we have on the early Dragons together, and this is what I have come up with. The plans for a 20 squ mtr racing boat from Johan Anker may have been dated 1924. I don't think that the boat was designed specially for the Royal Hong Kong Yaucht club. Johan Anker entered a ...

Re: Anker/Dragon pics wanted

Received this morning The matter of the A class, indeed designed by Johan Anker in 1924 – though whether entirely for the RHKYC is, I think, a matter for legitimate doubt – is covered in Gillian Chambers Eastern Waters, Eastern Winds (HK: Royal HK Yacht Club, 1993) on pp.51, with images on pp.55 and...

Anker/Dragon pics wanted

Does anybody have pictures of the Anker 22 designed for the Hong Kong Yacht Club, predating the Dragon? Also would like to see pictures of the Big Dragons of 1940. I believe they were Anker's last design. Finally any Pictures of the Dragon that was gaff rigged' "just for fun" a few years ago . This ...

Re: Deck Replacement

John, I hope both you and Louis in Okanagan have read Don Street on rebuilding wooden Dragons. If not the article is available at http://www.britishdragons.org/classicsdonstreet.htm . I have a good article somewhere from Practical boat owner on deck covering. Made me think of using plastic teak. Loo...

Re: Dragon? in the Okanagan

KC 116 was built by Kelvin Savell of Santa Barbara in the U S A in 1965. She is known as Tatsu and sailed out of Vancover at least up to 97.
These details are from the Canadian Dragon Fleet Register.

Re: Polish Dragon in Canada

John, early Dragons had the back stays finish alongside the cockpit. I have a pic of Bluebottle about 1954 like this. I believe that before the war they used Highfield levers. These are available from Davey & co http://www.daveyco.uk Expensive. But the catalogue makes great reading/dreaming!! I beli...

Re: Polish Dragon in Canada

No information on your boat , but I got home from Cambleton on Saturday with a 57 Mahogony Abeking & Rassmussen Dragon. Not sailed since 92, and stored in N B since 96. The seller told me it was one of 3 that came from the Royal Toronto. The other 2 are on Chaleur and at Fredericton. Maybe yours? Mi...

Re: Motor Mount Brackett

Clive P again. Rustler yachts have a side mount. Pictured in may 2007 Classic Boat.I have seen the Spartan, nice bronze! The Rustler is Stainless. The Rustler design cast in bronze might be what we really need. 3 knot tide running outside the marina and 20 knot wind coming up the river! And an outbo...

Re: 2005 Carvel mahogany dragon (price reduction)

Sigrid is beautifull! Unfortunately too expensive for me. Any chance of some more pics of the early style cabin, cockpit & running rigging? I want to backdate my 57. The 2008 racing gear is too complicated for an elderly cruiser. Clive P
